Resources

Wider reading is an essential skill as you become a more independent learner. It is particularly necessary at a time like this.

I would encourage you to take a cyber wander through the excellent resources on tinterweb which will enhance your knowledge and understanding of this subject.  These are resources that teachers use to complement their classroom practice.

Begin with the essential resource of media magazine

If you are struggling with academic theory then this site will enlighten you.

Here is a guide to making films by Mark Cousins on Vimeo
'It is called 40 days to learn film' which is a personal journey through film.  Another personal journey through the history of film is by Martin Scorsese which was released on DVD and is now on you-tube.

The Media Insider on you-tube is a teacher who has some excellent videos that will help you to develop your understanding of theory and key issues and debates.

Mrs Fisher is also really helpful.

Into Film offer some guides to film such as one on Kiki's Delivery Service if you like Studio Ghibli films.

Straight Outta Tamworth

You will research this set text and create a case study in preparation for study of the film industry for Component 1.

This case study will be written up and submitted for assessment on show my homework by 30th April before we move on to your comparison film, I, Daniel Blake by British director Ken Loach. (Literacy)

It links with a British film 'I, Daniel Blake' and Beyonce's 'Formation' which you will write about in your exam.

Use your component 1 booklet, which is on show my homework, to gain an understanding of the requirements of this exam.

Start by watching the film.

If you cannot access it then here are some resources to provide some context. Remember that the question is comparing independent and mainstream films.

How do the two trailers construct an audience for the film?

How has viral marketing changed the way audiences are targeted in the online age?
